Credit Reports

Credit is crucial to the United States economy. Institutions offer credit to people to purchase goods and services, like cars, or to set up businesses, among other things. In turn, people use the credit they have obtained to earn more income or satisfy their needs, creating a need for jobs for others to fulfill. This process allows an economy to grow very large.

Because credit is so important, a way to judge someone's credit risk is important. People do not want to extend credit to people who are high risk debtors and who very likely will not pay the money back. As a result, they use people's credit reports.

Credit reports provide information on an individual's credit history. They have a credit score, which is a number revealing how strong someone's past credit is. Credit reports also have a list of all past activity that can affect a credit report. For example, if someone does not pay back a loan, the credit report will show that. Or, if somebody breaks a lease contract, the credit reports will reflect that.

As mentioned above, the credit report provides an idea to lenders about how much risk someone presents. Credit reports are used by others as well, too. Employers check credit reports to determine how responsible a potential employee is. Or, landlords check a potential tenant's credit reports to decide whether the potential tenant will be a financial risk or not.

Because credit is so important, and because credit reports are used for so many purposes, it is crucial that people have a good credit report. For more information on credit reports and how they relate to mortgages and loans, contact Texas Mortgage Loans by sending us a message from our website.
